5-Star Review! - Reviewed By Readers’ Favorite reviewer, Barbara Fanson It’s fiction. It’s non-fiction. It’s poetry for the ears. Beware! offers something to please everyone - advice for having fun in the water, which aquatic animals pose a threat, fun facts [and] also tips for water safety and swimming in [the] sea. Beware! is a fun book that children will want to hear again and again because of the fun, rhyming sounds. Author J.R. Poulter describes the crab, shark, and octopus in a humorous, musical way. The simple, but stylistic illustrations on a background sky photo, were created by artist Nick Willis. Beware! is a colorful children’s picture book with stylish type. School libraries and public libraries should [stock] this book. "BEWARE!" is the recipient of LiFE Award, Literature for Environment: The author grew up in a sleepy coastal village, or it was at that time. "BEWARE!" seeks to engender the fun and camaraderie of family seaside holidays whilst inculcating a sense of awe for the more potentially dangerous sea creatures to be encountered on our shores. The aim was not to instill fear, but respect for the rightful inhabitants of the marine environment to which we are only visitors, guests passing through. Additional fun facts are included at the end of the book with the aim of stimulating children's natural curiosity and a desire to learn more.
